Quick Sofa

Deliberately shallow and upright — the most sociable seat in the building because it is the worst place to nap.

Quick Sofa is designed for the general meeting room for SendQuick, where the brief was for a piece that could seat four people who had come to talk.

Almost every sofa we were shown for that room was wrong in the same way: too deep, too soft, too good at swallowing a person for the afternoon. Quick Sofa is 620mm deep with an upright back and a firm foam core. You sit on it rather than in it, you can get out of it holding a laptop, and a meeting held on it stays a meeting.

The frame is blackened steel, thin enough to disappear against a dark floor, and the linen is undyed. It has since gone into two apartments as a window seat, which we did not anticipate but do not mind.
